The construction of the six-megawatt Relekhola Hydropower Project has been completed in Narchyang of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 of Myagdi.

The testing has begun with the completion of the construction of the project's infrastructure.

Public Relations Officer of the project Homanath Pandey said that all the physical infrastructure to be built in the hydropower project has been completed and testing has begun.

According to him, preparations are being made to start electricity production within mid-May this year.

He said, "The pipeline connected to bring water from the dam to the power house has been filled with water and the testing has begun by a technical team. The work of construction of the physical infrastructure and installation of equipment has been completed and the work of electrical testing has reached the final stage."

Pandey said that a dam has been built in Kalokhola at the foot of Khopralek.

Similarly, two 50-metre-long water desander ponds and a power house have been built in Relekhark, and a 3,600-metre-long pipeline has been installed from the dam to the power house, he said.

A five-kilometer transmission line with a capacity of 33 kV has been constructed to connect the Relekharka power house, switchyard, and Dana substation.

The structure and equipment to generate electricity by dropping water from a height of 505 metres to the power house have been constructed and installed.

The project whose construction began in 2079 B.S. with a target of completing it in two years, was affected by the flood in last September, which damaged the dam and intake built at Kalokhola.

Public relations officer Pandey said that the project is being operated by building a temporary dam and dropping water in the desander.

Himalayan and Rastriya Banijya Bank have extended a loan of Rs. 1.2 billion for the project.

The project has constructed 17-kilometre access road from Beshigaun of Narchyang to the dam and power plant construction site via Lekgaun.
