By the end of Magh in the current fiscal year 2082/83 (mid-February 2026), petroleum products worth Rs 11 billion 52 crore 26 lakh 46 thousand have been imported through the eastern border point of Kakarbhitta. The imports through the eastern checkpoint include petrol, diesel, LPG, ATF (aviation turbine fuel), and kerosene.

According to Ishworkumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, petroleum imports have increased by Rs 60 crore 20 lakh 10 thousand compared to the same period in fiscal year 2081/82. With the rise in imports, revenue collected from petroleum products has increased by 6.70 percent, he stated.

According to office data, in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, revenue amounting to Rs 5 billion 63 crore 45 lakh 73 thousand has been collected from petroleum imports.

During this period, 62,932 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 5 billion 53 crore 41 lakh were imported. Similarly, 40,352 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 3 billion 81 crore 28 lakh were imported.

Likewise, in the same seven-month period, imports included 14,999 metric tons of LPG worth Rs 1 billion 46 crore 31 lakh, 4,736 kiloliters of ATF worth Rs 43 crore 58 lakh, and 1,212 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 11 crore 30 lakh, according to Information Officer Humagain.
