Construction work on the eastern section of the Mugling-Pokhara stretch of the Prithvi Highway, currently undergoing expansion, has reached its final stage.

According to Bishnu Prasad Pandey, Information Officer of the eastern section, 95 per cent of the construction work on the stretch from Anbukhaireni in Tanahun to Jamune in Myagde has been completed.

The 41-kilometre road section, which is being upgraded with a loan assistance of approximately Rs. 6.31 billion from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is expected to be completed soon.

As part of the expansion, market areas have been developed into six-lane roads, while other sections have been upgraded to four lanes in a modern design.

Information Officer Pandey said that final finishing works such as blacktopping, lane marking, painting, and installation of necessary traffic signboards were currently underway at a rapid pace. Construction activities have been accelerated with the goal of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.

The project also stated that construction of the important Madi Bridge along this section has reached nearly 80 per cent completion, and the remaining structural works are progressing swiftly.

The road upgrade project, which was initially divided into two sections, had its contract agreement signed on January 30, 2021.

Along with road expansion, modern drainage systems, pedestrian footpaths, safety barriers, and an organised signaling system have been installed, making the road section safer and more convenient than before.

The recent progress of the project is expected to bring significant relief to thousands of passengers and local residents traveling along the highway.
