Cyamex Inc., the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Nepal, has issued a detailed factual clarification regarding the recent imports of its electric vehicles (EVs).

The company’s statement comes in response to growing public concerns and media reports surrounding the heavy volume of EVs cleared through customs just ahead of the Fiscal Year 2083/84 budget announcement.

Through a public statement, Cyamex strongly denied any wrongdoing, reaffirming its commitment to legal compliance, transparency, and ethical business practices. The distributor termed the allegations—which suggest it colluded with government officials to evade upcoming tax changes—as completely baseless, false, and damaging to its corporate reputation.

According to the data released by the company, a total of 1,121 BYD vehicles were successfully cleared through two major border points leading up to the budget. Out of these, 649 vehicles, consisting of the ATTO 1 and ATTO 2 models, were brought in through the Korala Customs in Mustang between May 26 and May 27.

Another 472 units, which included the ATTO 1, ATTO 2, ATTO 3, and Sealion 7 models, were cleared through the Rasuwa Customs between May 18 and May 27. Additionally, Cyamex noted that another 226 vehicles have reached the Chinese side of the border but have not yet undergone Nepalese customs clearance.

Cyamex explained that the large shipment was driven entirely by prior customer bookings, rising domestic market demand, and routine business logistics.

The timing of the imports depended strictly on BYD’s international factory production schedules, shipping availability, and regular freight management, rather than any attempts to beat the budget deadline.

The company explicitly stated that it has not requested or received any special privileges, fast-track clearing, or unauthorized administrative favors from customs authorities. To clear its name, Cyamex has welcomed any official legal investigation or review by regulatory bodies.

The company expressed full readiness to hand over all necessary paperwork, including bank payment receipts, shipping manifests, border entry logs, and official customs declarations, to prove its operations were fully transparent and legal.
