LONGi has launched eight new photovoltaic technologies, spanning solar cells, modules, hardware and an energy-management platform.

Combined on a standard 2,382 mm by 1,134 mm module, the technologies push power output above 690 watts at a conversion efficiency of 25.54%.

Founder and CTO Li Zhenguo said the technologies can be combined to build targeted products for customer needs, whilst Chairman Zhong Baoshen said technological innovation is needed to move the industry beyond price competition.

Amongst the individual technologies, Advanced Contact Matrix gridline technology halves gridline electrical resistance using a nano-alloy contact material, adding 0.2% to 0.3% to mass-production efficiency and supporting module power up to 672 watts in Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10 modules.

Meanwhile, Integrated Conductive Backsheet Technology replaces solder ribbons used in modules for roughly 20 years, widening the current transmission cross-section by more than 85%.

It cuts mechanical stress on cells by 60%, reducing water vapour permeability by 90%, and adding 3 to 5 watts per module through reflected light.

Three connection technologies increase active generating area—Shingled Cell Technology adds about 2% of generating surface by overlapping cells at a 0.4 mm edge; Hidden Busbar Technology moves busbars to the rear, adding 1.1% more light-absorbing area; and Selective Temperature Alloy Connection uses low-temperature fusion bonding to reduce thermal stress on BC cell joints.

Moreover, the LONGi One OS energy-management platform recalculates optimal charge and discharge cycles every 15 minutes for sites combining PV, storage, EV charging and load management.

Further, smart Modules, each fitted with individual Maximum Power Point Tracking units, recover 5% to 30% of generation on partially shaded arrays and cut DC voltage to a safe level below 30 volts within 20 seconds for fire safety.
