Nepal has imported petroleum products worth Rs 16.19 billion through the eastern border at Kakarbhitta in the first 10 months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25.

Petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene were imported through this point.

Ishwar Kumar Humagain, information officer at the Mechi Customs Office, said the import of petroleum products has decreased by Rs 917.7 million compared to the same period of the previous FY. Despite the decline in imports, revenue generated from petroleum products increased by 5.90 percent, equivalent to Rs 437.4 million.

According to data from the office, revenue collection from petroleum imports in the first 10 months of the current FY year amounted to Rs 7.83 billion.

During this period, Nepal imported 84,300 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 7.34 billion, and 59,976 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 5.53 billion.

In the first 10 months of the current FY, Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 2.34 billion in the form of 21,106 metric tons of LPG, NPR 559.4 million worth of 6,060 kiloliters of ATF, and Rs 196.9 million worth of 2,152 kiloliters of kerosene.
