The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index remained relatively stable on Wednesday. After a decline of 0.22 points on Tuesday, the market dropped slightly again by 0.33 points on Wednesday.

Reviewing the trading activity over Tuesday and Wednesday, the NEPSE index showed only marginal changes, and there was little improvement in overall transaction volume.

Investors are currently facing uncertainty as they await the upcoming fiscal year’s monetary policy and the fourth-quarter financial reports of listed companies for the current fiscal year. Many say the stock market has struggled to gain momentum, as they hesitate to increase or decrease their investments until these key updates are released.

At the start of trading on Wednesday, the NEPSE index stood at 2,600.53 points but fell by 0.33 points to close at 2,600.20 points. The Sensitive Index also experienced a minor decline alongside NEPSE.

Despite the overall dip in the NEPSE index on Wednesday, share prices for 112 companies increased. Notably, Modi Hydropower Company and Tehrathum Hydropower Company saw their share prices rise by nearly 10 percent.

Although the index dropped, there was a slight uptick in transaction volume. A total of 13.75 million shares from 311 companies were traded through 61,800 transactions, amounting to Rs. 5.94 billion.

This figure is slightly higher than Tuesday’s transaction value of Rs. 5.76 billion. On Wednesday, Butwal Power Company recorded the highest trading volume, with shares worth Rs. 530 million exchanged.

Looking at sectoral indices on Wednesday, Banking declined by 1.29 points, Finance by 11.41 points, Investment by 0.43 points, Manufacturing by 14.43 points, Microfinance by 9.93 points, Others by 4.81 points, and Trading by 45.11 points.

In contrast, Development Bank rose by 1.33 points, Hotels surged by 96.19 points, Hydropower increased by 23.71 points, Life Insurance by 8.01 points, Mutual Funds by 0.01 points, and the Non-life Insurance group by 12.45 points.
