The government has decided to construct the West Seti 400 kV transmission line in partnership with the private sector.

The transmission line will be built under a public–private partnership (PPP) using the SVP model, with 51 percent investment from the government and 49 percent from the private sector.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 20 billion. According to the National Transmission Grid Company, the debt-to-equity ratio will be 70:30. The company issued a notice on Wednesday calling for expressions of interest from the private sector.

The proposed transmission line, approximately 145 kilometers long, will run from the Chainpur Substation in Jayaprithvi Municipality-1, Hammersen, Bajhang, through the Banlek Substation in Shikhar Municipality-10, Doti, to the Dodhara Substation in Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-2, Kailali.

Under the project, a 160 MVA Chainpur Substation and a 315 MVA Banlek Substation will be constructed. Land acquisition for the project has already been completed, and survey work has also been finalized.

Earlier, the National Transmission Grid Company had already moved forward with the process of constructing the Tamor–Dhungesanghu 220 kV transmission line in partnership with the private sector.
