The Nepal Electricity Authority has announced that it will hold a public hearing related to the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) of the Okharpauwa–Tinpipley 220 kV transmission line project. Issuing a public notice on January 5, 2026, the Authority has invited stakeholders to participate in the program.

The proposed transmission line will be constructed by tapping from tower number 37/2 of the Trishuli 3rd Hub – Matatirtha 220 kV transmission line and the line will be connected to the Tinpiple substation. The project is expected to affect the areas of Tarakeswor Municipality-3 (Kot Village) in Kathmandu, Kakani Rural Municipality-1 in Nuwakot and Dhunibesi Municipality-1 in Dhading.

According to the Authority, a draft Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) report has been prepared, incorporating studies on the potential impacts that may arise during the construction of the transmission line and substation on the physical environment, chemical and biological environment, socio-economic aspects, and cultural areas.

Based on the same draft, public hearing programs have been scheduled within the project area. The first public hearing will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., near the proposed Tinpipley Substation at the chautaro in Tarkeshwar Municipality–3, Kot village.

According to the Authority, the second public hearing will take place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the premises of Sabeshwar Temple in Sunkhada village, Dhunibesi Municipality–1.

The Authority has stated that the suggestions and feedback raised during the public hearings, as well as questions from stakeholders, will be incorporated into the IEE report. The process will be carried out in accordance with the Environment Protection Act, 2019, and the Environment Protection Rules, 2020.

The Authority has also urged all parties concerned with the project to be present at the specified date, venue, and time and to put forward their suggestions.
