Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday plunged 17.53 points over a selling pressure, to close at 2,714.05 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,731.89 points, inched up seven points and then dropped 16 points in the first around one hour. In the next one hour, the index reached the day’s high at 2,742.53 points. In the remaining around two hours, the market declined successively shedding around 28 points to close for the day.

Three groups were the gainers, with hydropower adding the largest of 13.77 points, followed by investment and mutual funds. Of the 10 losers, manufacturing and processing, and development banks declined 201.09 points and 132.34 points, respectively.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 1.58 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 14.56 billion from Rs 11.49 billion.

Among the individual companies, 85 were gainers while 170 were recorded as losers. Ngadi Group Power had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 599.91 million.

Three companies including Corporate Development Bank Limited, Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Saptakoshi Development Bank were the highest losers. Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited had its index increased by 9.23 percent, the highest of all.
